June Blooms on the Farm

While we haven’t officially kicked off summer, the weather—and the flowers—seem to think otherwise. As we approach mid-June and the summer solstice is just a week away, the warm temperatures and humidity have been wonderful for the seedlings.

Flower Subscriptions

We still have subscription slots available for June 16–July 16, and another round beginning in August through September. A flower subscription makes a lovely gift, whether for yourself, your family, or a friend. Each bouquet is unique and reflects whatever is blooming in the garden that week.

Right now, the farm is filled with peonies, foxglove, salvia, catmint, and roses, along with delicate chamomile, which can also be dried and used for tea. Lavender is another favorite here and thrives in the heat and sunshine.

What makes Fox Ridge Flower Farm unique is that many of the plants growing on the farm are heirloom varieties, including peonies that have been passed down and blooming for generations.

Flower subscriptions can be purchased in the shop. Simply choose the month you'd like to receive them, and you'll enjoy a hand-tied mixed bouquet available for pickup in Bethlehem. Delivery is also available for an additional $10 per week.

In the Field

Right now, more than forty snapdragons are thriving and are very close to blooming—hopefully in the next few weeks. The Apricotta cosmos and zinnias are coming along nicely as well.

The dahlias have really taken off over the last week. I planted lisianthus for the first time this year and am not quite sure what to expect, but I've always loved them and decided to try some plugs from Burpee. Hopefully they thrive, because as a cut flower they can last for weeks in a vase.

The hydrangeas are beginning to show their blooms, and I have a large selection of both white varieties and the blue and purple shades that everyone loves in summer. It seems that the cold snap we experienced in May may have caused many of the mophead hydrangeas to lose their buds.
